Between Friends welcome honoured guest to Summer’s End Celebration

Between Friends closed out its summer programming schedule by hosting their annual Summer’s End Celebration at Between Friends Camp Bonaventure on August 18th.

The rain clouds held off just long enough, making for a beautiful evening shared by families and friends. The 2016 Summer’s End event was sponsored by the Big Hearted Mavericks.

Tom Jackson – Canadian singer/songwriter, actor and philanthropist was our special guest for the evening, treating those in attendance to a private concert on the newly renovated deck at Between Friends Camp Bonaventure.

Before grabbing his guitar to play a few songs for the crowd, Jackson even stood under the tent and helped serve food to guests… completely on his own accord. He is a man with a tremendous heart.

After a delicious bbq meal, attendees made their way to the fire pit area to sing out their favorite camp songs for one of the final times this summer. Camp participants enjoyed putting on a show for their parents and siblings, sharing the heartwarming sing-a-longs that bring so much joy throughout the summer weeks.

This summer, Between Friends Camp Bonaventure ran for a total of 8 week-long sessions from July 4 to August 26th. Between Friends Camp Bonaventure participants range in age from 4 to 17 years old.

A huge thank you to the Big Hearted Mavericks for sponsoring the event, manning the bbqs, serving our families, staff, donors and so much more.
