In addition, she possesses a National Certificate in Voluntary and Non-Profit Sector Management and has completed the Not for Profit Governance Essentials Program through the Canadian Institute of Corporate Directors. You will find Suzanne actively involved in her community as a volunteer with Aktion Club, a service organization for adults with special needs and as a member of the Northmount Kiwanis Club. It is through her work with Aktion Club that she is reminded of the important work that Between Friends does and the difference it makes in the lives of our participants.

Suzanne’s other passions include travel, Pickleball and enjoying the great outdoors with her dog Mecho. This, along with cuddling with her cat Tigger help to keep her life balanced and stress level at a minimum!

Kim Presser, Director of Operations

Kim has been involved with Between Friends since 2006, working at Camp Bonaventure and in our W.E.S.O.A.R! Programs before moving into the office in 2008. Kim holds an advanced diploma in Child & Youth Work from Algonquin College in Ottawa, Ontario, a bookkeeping certificate from Chinook Learning Services and has taken several courses in the Not for Profit Management Certificate Program through Mount Royal University.

“Between Friends has been with me through my entire adult life. I have had the incredible experience of getting to work alongside my two best friends everyday for the past 8 years, and I’ve been able to call so many others my close friends, some for the last 15 years. Everyone at Between Friends has truly become part of my family and watching the members I met as Minnows, now turning into adults, has been so rewarding. I am beyond excited that my five year old daughter is now experiencing Camp Bonaventure and has such a passion for the organization at such a young age. My Between Friends life has come full circle!”

In her spare time, Kim loves being with her family and their miniature bulldog, either in the mountains or out on the skating rink. She has a strong passion for all things Disney, and is always excited to help plan your next Disneyland vacation. Kim is an avid sports fan, and can be seen cheering for the Ottawa Senators, the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco Giants, even travelling around North America to catch one of her teams play.

Heather O’Bray, Manager, Membership Services

Heather O’Bray is the Manager, Membership Services. Heather has a Bachelor in Community Rehabilitation and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, both from the University of Calgary. Prior to joining the Between Friends team, Heather worked for over twenty years in the brain injury field. It was during this time that Heather became passionate about community capacity building and member advocacy. Heather is certified as a Personality Dimensions facilitator and encourages personal wellness and development in herself and the team.

One of Heather’s favourite sayings is that “life is about the journey, not the destination”. When she is not working, Heather can be found enjoying her own personal journey. In particular, Heather loves travelling and has a lengthy bucket list. The best way to travel is with her sailing friends, to wherever the winds may take them. For a happy life, Heather also adds photography, cooking and indulging her creative side. A glass half full kind of person, it is not surprising that Heather’s camp name is Tigger!
