Afternoon Tea Between Friends
by: Kelsey Claeys, Event Coordinator
I love planning events, all events, but there is something to be said about a brand new event. There is no precedent, I am able to help create the vision and as a collective, we get to experience something brand new for our organization.
On May 24, we will have our first ever High Tea fundraising event, appropriately named, An Afternoon Tea Between Friends.
The vision that has been created for this event is one of whimsy and elegance, with a dash of reminiscing about a childhood favourite, Alice in Wonderland.
Joining us for Tea
For this year’s inaugural event, we are so pleased to have Breakfast Television’s Jill Belland as our host for the afternoon.
If you’ve ever watched BT, you know that Jill is often seen scaling buildings with firefighters, or feeding bats at the Zoo. Recently Jill has hit the stage in productions like “The Full Monty” and “Man Out of Joint”. Jill is passionate about many of Calgary’s charitable organizations, and to learn more about Jill’s involvement in the community, you can follow her on Twitter.
Our keynote speaker Autism Awareness Activist and Philanthropist Kodette LaBarbera, who’s eldest son, Ryder, was diagnosed with Autism at the age of three. In addition to being a wife, a mom of two, activist and philanthropist, Kodette is also one of the stars of the W Network’s hit show – Hockey Wives.
Elegance of High Tea
Between Friends has always been surrounded with dedicated and passionate people, and our planning committee for this event is no different. The group of ladies leading the charge are thrilled by the concept and are excited to see what wonderful things will come from the afternoon.
We want each of our guests to feel as though they are experiencing a Classic High Tea, with glimpses of current day fun; such as a silent auction, a sleight of hand magician – specializing in card tricks, inspirational guests, and of course Alice herself!
I urge you to join us for the event, of course because the cause is one that is close to your heart, but also because this is going to be an amazing afternoon of women (a few men), elegance and philanthropy. We want you to be a part of this occasion with us, to celebrate the joy that it brings and the mountains it can move.
And as the White Rabbit says: “Save the date! Don’t be late! For a very important date!”
