Originally, The Pink Pelican Club was formed by the Volunteer Bureau of Calgary in 1970, and the program was supervised by Mrs. Peggy Raymond, who was on staff with the Bureau at that time. The basic objective was to provide a social evening for children with disabilities. The club used teenaged volunteers to help run the program and provide peer interaction. The participants ranged in age from 12 – 20 years and came from all over Calgary.
